Research indicates that female travelers often overpack for week-long trips, bringing nearly double the necessary clothing items. On average, they pack 60 items but utilize only 34.
A survey by Sunshine.co.uk found that 72% of women acknowledge overpacking, with 65% experiencing difficulty closing their suitcases and 58% exceeding airline weight limits. Despite this, 42% plan to shop for more clothes while abroad. Typically, women pack 19 tops but wear only 10, and pack 16 bottoms but use just eight.
Additionally, a study by Upgraded Points revealed that 80% of women admit to overpacking for their trips, while less than half of men pack “just enough to get by.”
These findings highlight a common tendency among female travelers to overestimate their clothing needs, leading to overpacking and potential travel inconveniences.
