Jake Paul isn’t convinced by IShowSpeed’s claim that he could defeat him in a hypothetical boxing match.
Paul, 27, responded to the bold statement made by IShowSpeed, 19, following Speed’s recent and controversial win against boxing legend Mike Tyson, 58. Speed expressed confidence in his ability to beat Paul, but the YouTuber-turned-boxer dismissed the claim in a comment on an Instagram post from The Bread Batch, which reported on Speed’s remarks. “Speed knows better,” Paul wrote. “My guy was just playing around.”
This was echoed by Paul’s manager, Nakisa Bidarian, who also weighed in on The Bread Batch’s post, challenging Speed to back up his words. “Cool. Tell him I have $10 million for him right now,” Bidarian wrote. “Sign this week. If he beats Jake, he gets a $10 million bonus. Put your signature where your clout is.”
The exchange comes after Speed, speaking during an appearance on 360 With Speedy at ComplexCon 2024 in Las Vegas, shared his belief that he could take on any boxer with proper preparation.
“I feel like I could beat Jake Paul in a fight,” Speed said. “If I have six months—just six months of training—I’m beating any monster in this world. I think I’m knocking him out, maybe in the fifth or sixth round. It’s going to be that one perfect shot, like when Gervonta Davis landed on Ryan [Garcia]. One good one, and he’s out. Sleep.”
As for Paul, the potential list of challengers for his next fight continues to grow. While Gervonta Davis, 30, is among the possible opponents, both Davis and Speed are closer to Paul’s age than Tyson, who recently lost to Paul in a unanimous decision.
