Pang Dong Lai has implemented an innovative “unhappy leave” policy, allowing employees to take up to 10 days off each year whenever they feel unhappy.

Spearheaded by CEO Yu Donglai, this initiative aims to enhance employee well-being and foster a healthier work-life balance. The company also supports its workforce with shorter workdays, weekends off, generous annual leave, and extended breaks during the Lunar New Year.

This policy tackles the growing issue of workplace stress in China, particularly among younger employees, by promoting a more flexible and empathetic work environment. The progressive approach has sparked widespread online discussion and garnered praise for prioritizing mental health.
