Vice President Kamala Harris was caught on a hot mic during a campaign stop over the weekend, acknowledging the need to better engage male voters.
While at the Trak Houz Bar and Grill in Kalamazoo, Michigan, with Governor Gretchen Whitmer, Harris appeared to forget about the microphones and cameras around them, as captured in footage shared on social media.
“We need to move ground among men,” Harris was seen saying to Whitmer while they enjoyed beers.
Upon realizing they were being recorded, Harris looked up and remarked, “Oh, we have microphones in here listening to everything. I didn’t realize that,” gesturing around the room. “OK. So now you’ll tell us.”
Whitmer quipped, “You’ll bleep my F words,” to which Harris responded with laughter, “We just told all the family secrets. S–t.”
Some social media users speculated that the “hot mic” incident was staged, noting that both the governor and the vice president were wearing microphones and surrounded by boom mics, cameras, and reporters for a photo opportunity.
