In its latest move to enforce a strict interpretation of Islamic law, the Taliban has prohibited Afghan women from hearing the voices of other women.
Khalid Hanafi, Afghanistan’s Minister for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, announced the new restrictions, saying, “These are new rules and will be gradually implemented, and God will be helping us in each step we take.”
The measure represents a further tightening of the Taliban’s policies regarding women’s freedoms, part of their broader agenda to reshape Afghan society according to their vision.
The ban has drawn international criticism, adding to concerns over the regime’s escalating restrictions on women’s rights, including prohibitions on education and employment.
