A Florida woman is sharing her reasons for not evacuating ahead of Hurricane Milton, emphasizing her and her husband’s commitment to keeping the more than 100 animals on their family farm safe.
In a TikTok video, Sara Weldon states, “We are in the direct path of where this hurricane is supposed to hit… We’re not evacuating. And please, don’t ask me to.”
“All these animals are our children,” she adds, fighting back tears.
Weldon explains in the video that while their family farm is not located on the coast, it is situated in central Florida—specifically Clermont, between Tampa and Orlando.
In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Weldon reveals that she and her husband, Rick Bass, have adult children who live elsewhere, but their animals are like family to them.
